It may not seem like it at times, but did you know that newborn babies sleep for around 18 hours a day? Throughout their early development, it’s vital to make sure that your baby is getting a good night’s sleep. A solid sleep is, after all, essential for brain development and growth (for tips on getting your baby to sleep read our interview with Nicole Johnson from The Baby Sleep Site).
Of all the things parents try to get their little ones to sleep, one of the most vital, and simple, is to ensure they have a comfortable place to sleep. One essential piece of that puzzle is choosing the right crib sheets.
Because crib sheets are made with various fabrics, it’s important to note that not all crib sheets are created equal. It’s important to find out just what fabric your crib sheets are made from, and which fabrics promote the best sleep.
Read on for my review of the different crib sheet fabrics available and recommendation of the best fabric to help promote a solid sleep for your baby.
Polyester crib sheets are a budget-friendly option. However, because they are not as breathable as cotton, one of the drawbacks of polyester is that your baby may get hot and uncomfortable, especially in warmer weather.
Flannel crib sheets are ideal for keeping your baby warm in colder climates, but do keep in mind that in warmer climates and during the summer, flannel crib sheets should be folded away and left until next winter! Baby will overheat in warm weather if sleeping on flannel sheets.
At Coco Moon, our specialty is producing buttery soft baby essentials that last for years, even after many (many!) of washes.
Our research showed that a bamboo & cotton blend was the ultimate fabric for crib sheets, and it’s what all of our crib sheets are made from at Coco Moon.
Silky smooth and luxurious to sleep on, bamboo offers the added benefit of being a 100% breathable natural fibre.
Retaining it’s quality and shape no matter how many times you wash them, bamboo crib sheets provide that extra level of cloud like softness to help promote comfortable, sound sleep. Additionally, if your baby is already used to being wrapped in our swaddle blankets, the crib sheets offer the same familiar, comforting, and buttery soft feel.
For many parents, the prospect of a good night’s sleep for their baby, and thus for themselves, can be a source of stress and apprehension. Make things a little easier by opting for a crib sheet that promotes a sound sleep for your family.
