Over the last two years, Coco Moon Hawaii has used our Giving Back program to donate to Kapiʻolani Medical Center’s NICU — an organization that hits close to home for us.
As a company rooted in the culture and spirit of Hawaii and all things babies, it was only fitting that we help support some of the most vulnerable babies of Hawaii in any way that we can. And the Kapiʻolani NICU was the perfect way for us to do just that.
When we say the Kapiʻolani Medical Center is amazing and crucial to our community, we mean it. They are the only Level 3 Pediatric Center serving Hawai’i and the Pacific Region, which means that families and babies from neighboring islands have access to high quality, critical care services if needed. Hawai’i is one of the most remote places in the world, and having a NICU this advanced in our region has given so many babies a fighting chance and helped many families bring their precious keiki home.
What’s more is the resounding appreciation for the Kapiʻolani staff that we’ve heard from our Coco Moon community. Time and time again, our customers have shared how the staff at Kapiʻolani went above and beyond to create a safe and loving environment. Their kindness and empathy had an enormous impact on these families going through such a difficult time, and it’s so reassuring knowing that a program filled with amazing, dedicated staff exists on our Hawaiian Islands.
It’s no secret that the Kapiʻolani Medical Center NICU has impacted our islands in more ways than we have words for. But to put it in perspective, their NICU cares for over 1,000 babies a year! That’s 1,000 babies receiving the best care in the islands, and 1,000 families impacted by that care. We are so honored to be able to contribute to an organization doing such powerful work in our community.
Aside from donating 1% of all sales, we regularly gift our buttery soft products, including our swaddle blankets and onesies, to families in the NICU. We hope that these small gestures help to bring a smile to their hearts on those hard NICU days.
It’s always a warm feeling when we see images of the NICU babies wrapped up in their Coco Moon swaddles! Knowing that we are able to help impact generations of Hawaii families through an organization as amazing as the Kapiʻolani Medical Center’s NICU, is something we cherish.
One in ten babies end up in the NICU. The Kapiʻolani NICU’s goal is to help make sure the babies who end up in their NICU are able to head home safe and healthy. Coco Moon Hawaii is honored to help support that goal and impact families all across the Hawaiian Islands.
By the end of 2021, we plan to have donated over $40,000 to Kapiʻolani’s NICU over the past two years, which has allowed them to purchase a vital chair for breastfeeding and kangaroo care — a type of care that implements skin-to-skin contact and is incredibly important for parents and babies in the NICU.
We can’t wait to see what 2022 will bring and to continue to see the impact the Kapiʻolani Medical Center is making!
