Giving Tuesday 2018

Giving Tuesday is upon us and I can’t believe it has been two years since we first launched our 1% for Hawaii program. And this year, we wanted to pour a little extra love into the spirit of this day by donating some of our blankets to families in need.
The Hawaii Diaper Bank and Ronald McDonald House Hawaii were the recipients of our donations this Giving Tuesday, receiving a total of 180 of our swaddle blankets.

I love that the holidays begin with the season of giving thanks. And though as a small business owner I love the hustle of the busy shopping season, I am grateful for days like Giving Tuesday, which give us the opportunity to pause and focus on what really matters.

As I get older, I find myself reflecting on all of the variables in my life that got me to where I am today. And one of the things I’ve come to realize is that community-based organizations had a profound, positive impact on me. Whether it was being a “little sister” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, or receiving community-based scholarships that enabled me to attend Stanford University, I understand firsthand how important local non-profits are and how huge of an impact they can have.

After all that the community has poured in to me, I’m working hard to pay it back through Coco Moon’s own philanthropic efforts. From our monthly 1% for Hawai’i causes, to emergent natural disasters we have been able to donate to, nothing is more important for our little business than giving back to the community that has given us so much.

With Giving Tuesday upon us, I can’t believe it has been two years since we first launched our 1% for Hawaii program.
I know that these organizations will gift them to families with aloha and I hope that a token of our own well wishes and aloha is felt by each recipient as well.

The Ronald McDonald House Hawaii offers families a home-away-from-home to support children who are receiving treatment in Honolulu for serious injuries or illnesses at nearby hospitals. The Hawaii Diaper Bank provides keiki essentials to organizations who assist low income families with young children. Both have been instrumental in supporting the growing families of Hawaii, and as a proud keiki company, it is truly our honor to continue supporting the efforts of these organizations who work tirelessly to extend love and aloha to our local community.

We are proud to partake in Giving Tuesday with our donation this year and are thankful for the opportunity to give back to our community. I hope that we can continue to grow our efforts to give back over the years to come. Thank you to everyone out there that gives back in their own ways. I personally know what a wonderful difference it can make.
