Musician, Entrepreneur, and Mama on a Mission

At Coco Moon, we love celebrating strong, inspiring mamas who are making an impact in their families and communities. This month, we're honored to feature Trish Jetton, the lead singer of reggae band HIRIE, an entrepreneur, and a proud mama of two.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Italy and Hawaiʻi, Trish grew up immersed in different cultures, which deeply influenced her artistry and outlook on life. Her diverse heritage—Filipino, Spanish, British, French, Portuguese, and Italian—has shaped her identity as both an artist and a mother. Now, Trish is embracing new chapters of creativity, entrepreneurship, and self-discovery.

From her journey in music to embracing sobriety and launching her own beverage company, Trish shares how motherhood, mental health, and passion have influenced every step of her path.

Music That Connects Generations 🎶

Music has always been at the center of Trish's life. With a home filled with melodies—from her dad's guitar to her mom's singing and her sister's piano playing—she was surrounded by music from an early age.

Her love for Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and the Gypsy Kings inspired her to sing, and when she moved to Oʻahu, she picked up the ʻukulele and guitar, which became the foundation for her songwriting.

For Trish, music is more than entertainment—it’s a way to bring people inward. She finds inspiration in psychology and the feminine archetype, often drawing from books like Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés and Scattered Minds by Gabor Maté. Through her lyrics, she hopes to create music that helps people escape the monotony of everyday life and reconnect with themselves.

A Journey of Sobriety & Mental Health Advocacy

At 16 years old, Trish was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Instead of relying on prescriptions, she chose to manage her mental health through self-awareness and inner work, a journey that led to deep personal growth.

For years, alcohol played a role in her life, but she realized it had become a coping mechanism to suppress emotions rather than process them. After struggling with binge drinking, she made the life-changing decision to become sober two years ago.

“Since going sober, I've made huge repairs to my boundaries, relationships, and overall ability to love myself,” she shares. “It's an ongoing process, but I am the happiest I have ever been.”

Sobriety isn't always easy, especially in a culture that normalizes alcohol, but Trish has found strength in choosing herself and her well-being every day.

From Music to Entrepreneurship: Launching Kava Punch

Motherhood is known for awakening creativity, and for Trish, this meant launching Kava Punch, a company she co-founded with her husband.

The idea for Kava Punch was born in a dream during the couple's first week of sobriety. They had been introduced to kava years ago by the New Zealand reggae band Katchafire and loved its calming and euphoric effects. But now newly sober, as they started formulating the beverage, their goal was to create something they could enjoy socially—a drink that eased the mind without the negative effects of alcohol.

Now, with only 10 calories and 1g of sugar per can, Kava Punch provides a healthy, non-addictive alternative to alcohol, perfect for social gatherings, performances, or just winding down after a long day.

For Trish, Kava Punch represents more than a business—it's a way to change drinking culture and show that you don’t need alcohol to feel present, engaged, and at ease in a crowd.

Motherhood, Music, and the Future

Between music, running a business, and raising two kids, Trish has learned that motherhood is an ever-evolving journey—one filled with growth, challenges, and unexpected blessings.

Her biggest takeaway? The importance of self-love and mental wellness.

As she continues to share her story, music, and mission, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their journey—wherever it may lead.
