Coco Moon is channeling its 2018 philanthropic efforts with the 1% For Hawaii Program by supporting ocean-focused charities. As a local family from Maui who are now raising children with the same love for the ocean, it is important to Amber to acknowledge the organizations who are dedicated to protecting and preserving Hawaii's precious ocean resources and practices. Here are the monthly organizations Coco Moon is donating to each month of 2018 thus far:
January: Hawaii Wildlife Fund
A non-profit organization committed to the preservation of Hawaii's native wildlife through research, education and conservation. We are so grateful for their efforts to keep our oceans clean and safe for all who call it home!
February: Pacific Whale Foundation
A non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the ocean through science and advocacy. All profits from educational whale watching, ocean ecotours and Ocean Store retail operations support Pacific Whale Foundation's research, education and conservation programs. We love what this foundation is doing to protect these amazing animals and helping to educate the community about them!
March: The Surfrider Oahu
The Surfrider Foundation has been working diligently to protect the ocean for over 30 years on local, regional and national levels. We have been so inspired by Surfrider Oahu's local chapter and the work they have done to galvanize the community to malama our ocean.
April: Na Kama Kai
Na Kama Kai's mission is to "empower the youth by creating, conducting and supporting ocean-based programs, specifically targeting ocean safety and conservation awareness in order to increase the capacity of youth in the community through Hawaiian values, culture and environmental awareness." We are thrilled to know how Na Kama Kai is educating our keiki about ocean safety and engaging their sense of ownership and responsibility to care for the ocean!
